Meet Colorful Hornbills and Toucans

For the lovers of colorful and unique birds, Jurong Bird Park is the best place to visit in Asia. The place is home to hundred of species including Hornbills and Toucans. These birds can have length of a few inches to a couple of feet.

Corn Horn Hornbill

The Hornbill species of birds is very unique. Once you are in Jurong Bird Park, you can recognize these birds with their extra-long and curved beaks. Their beak is typically brightly shaded. The “cow horn” beak of the birds offers a wallpaper look.

Passerine Bird Toucans

Toucans are known as the birds that passerine from the Neotropics. In the Jurong Bird Park, there are South American Toucans that play around in their wide and well maintained aviaries. They love to eat fruits and play with them. Probably it is the reason that Toucan is a symbol of energy and thus seen in many food supplement ads.

Area Allocation

The administration of Jurong Bird Park generously allocated an area of 2,000 meter sq for the birds section of Hornbills and Toucans. This place is equipped with natural and artificial arrangements to compensate loss of destruction of tropical rainforests.

Program of breeding rare species

The people of Singapore are committed to preserve the endangered and rare species. In this regard, the Jurong Bird Park breeds rare species to ensure that they continue to survive. Since the Hornbills and Toucans are very faithful to their families and ‘believe’ in monogamy, the population of the birds is limited.

The park successfully helps many species of this bird like Black Hornbill, Southern Pied Hornbill and Great Indian Hornbill. Jurong Bird Park is running an Oriental Pied Hornbill Conservation Project to breed birds and expand their number.

Do share your experience with Hornbills and Toucans when you visit bird park in Singapore.
